Memorial event held in honor of General Longjam Roma at Keishamthong Longjam Leirak
KanglaTv september 23rd, 2025 :- During the reign of Maharaja Chandrakriti, there was a distinguished General named Longjam Roma, who was a prominent figure. To honor him, the General Longjam Roma Memorial Trust organized a memorial program at his residence located at Keishamthong Longjam Leirak.
Manipur’s Minister of Art & Culture, L. Jayantakumar, who attended as the chief guest, remarked that General Longjam Roma was a great warrior who stood bravely and selflessly. He was regarded by many as the teacher of Paona Brajabashi, and his sacrifices will always be remembered.
He further stated that after the times of Thangal General and General Sougaijamba Balaram, General Longjam Roma was also a prominent figure who laid down his life for the motherland with utmost dedication. He contributed immensely with his wisdom and leadership for the welfare of the land. The tireless efforts and sacrifices of such great forefathers form the foundation of today’s Manipur, he added.
The Trust also resolved to carry forward activities so that the heroic deeds of such leaders will continue to inspire future generations.
At the memorial event, held with solemn reverence for the late General Longjam Roma, the Vice Chancellor of the Manipur University of Culture, Prof. Paonam Gunindro, also attended as a guest of honor.
