The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan, where the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, administered the oath of office and secrecy. The event was attended by Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, Director General of Police Rajiv Singh, and several other senior government officials.
S.K. Dev Verman, a native of Tripura, joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1988 under the Manipur cadre. Over his distinguished career, he served in several key departments, including Works, Power, Art & Culture, Education, and Transport. He also held crucial administrative positions such as Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Tipaimukh and Tamei and Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur District.
He had earlier served as Secretary to the Governor of Manipur and also worked in various ministries at the central level, including the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Finance, Labour and Employment, and Minority Affairs.
In 2023, Dev Verman was appointed Secretary of the National Commission for Minorities. Later, on March 18, 2024, he assumed charge as Chairman of the Manipur Public Service Commission before his new appointment to the Manipur Lokayukta.
