IMPHAL:  The proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) (PWG) MC Unification has accused the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal, of large-scale irregularities, nepotism, and favouritism in the promotion and utilisation of nursing staff.

In a statement issued by Chingkheinganba, Public Relations Officer (designate) under the supervision of Lanyanba Khuman, the outfit alleged that the JNIMS administration has failed to address persistent grievances among nursing personnel concerning promotion and service extension.

According to the group, several Assistant Nursing Superintendents at JNIMS are allegedly drawing both full-time salaries and pensions simultaneously. It questioned the repeated service extensions granted to certain employees after superannuation, calling it a serious administrative lapse.

The statement further noted that while key posts such as Nursing Superintendent and Deputy Nursing Superintendent remain vacant, the institute continues to promote staff disproportionately. Citing figures, the outfit compared JNIMS with RIMS, Imphal—stating that RIMS has nine Assistant Nursing Superintendents, whereas JNIMS has 36. Similarly, RIMS employs 116 Nursing Sisters for 1,164 beds, while JNIMS, with only 751 beds, employs 164 Nursing Sisters, up from 78 following an addition of 86 more.

The KCP alleged that such irregularities have resulted in inefficiency, mismanagement in duty allocation, and an overall decline in patient care. It accused the JNIMS authority of fostering a culture of nepotism that has disrupted institutional discipline and transparency.

Concluding its statement, the KCP (PWG) MC Unification warned the JNIMS administration to initiate immediate corrective measures and cautioned that it would continue to monitor developments to ensure accountability within the institution.
