IMPHAL: The proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) observed its 48th Foundation Day at multiple locations across Manipur, with active participation from members, supporters, and sympathisers from both the hills and the valley.

In a statement, Mangal Khuman, Publicity Officer of the Department of Publicity and Propaganda, PREPAK, expressed gratitude to the media for publishing the message of the Interim Chairman on the occasion.

Observances were organised at the Central Head Quarter (CHQ), General Head Quarter (GHQ), 707 Mobile Battalion, Base Areas 1 to 4, Tactical Head Quarter (THQ), Training Centre (TC), Transit Camp, and Mobile Battalions 01 and 02, among other sites.

At the main function held at CHQ, Interim Council Chairman Aheiba Angom attended as Chief Guest, while Leibaak Ngaakpa Luwang, Chargé d’Affaires of the Department of Publicity and Propaganda, presided. The programme began with the hoisting of the party flag.

In his address, the Interim Chairman reportedly criticised Indian rule, alleging that India’s geopolitical ambitions have disrupted Kangleipak’s social and political fabric. He attributed the current unrest to continued occupation and exploitation and urged the people to unite to reclaim their rights and preserve the identity of the land. He further accused India of deliberately creating internal divisions and misleading those who fail to recognise this agenda.

He also drew attention to pressing issues such as prolonged unrest, the impact of Myanmar’s internal turmoil, poppy cultivation, drug trafficking, and recurring highway blockades, calling for unity to rebuild Kangleipak as a self-reliant and independent nation.

A parallel observance at the GHQ was attended by Chief of Army Staff (CAS) of the Red Army, Romi Meitei, Deputy Finance Secretary Rocky, Organisation–1 in-charge Shanti, and Organisation–2 in-charge Ngairamba. The CAS inaugurated the event by lighting a ceremonial torch, followed by floral tributes to fallen comrades and a Revolutionary Gun Salute. He said PREPAK aims to strengthen the revolutionary movement, with the Red Army dedicated to the struggle for liberation and the welfare of Kangleipak’s people.

Another programme at the 707 Mobile Battalion under the United Base Area was attended by Base Area Secretary Langamba, Athoiba Mithunglen, and Camp Commander Md. Pakkish. Floral tributes were offered to seven departed comrades, and the Base Area Secretary called upon citizens to remain united and vigilant in the pursuit of an independent Kangleipak.

Several revolutionary groups from the WESEA region and international organisations also conveyed messages of solidarity, while local supporters from both the hills and valley renewed their commitment towards restoring the sovereignty of Kangleipak.
